Admission Requirements
All applicants must be 21 years old, complete a registration application, agree to abide by the NGH Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, demonstrate an aptitude for this level of training, and be approved of by NGH Instructor, Carol Denicker. A deposit of $300 is required to hold your place in a class, (The non-refundable $100 registration fee is included in the deposit). The NGH minimum educational requirement necessitates that all US applicants possess a high school diploma; international students must have their country's equivalent.  You must agree to maintain the NGH standard codes of conduct and strict code of ethics. 

The NGH Hypnotism Certification Training 
This training program offers a comprehensive and in depth approach to the spectrum of hypnotic techniques. It is designed to offer those preparing for a career in hypnotism the greatest advantage. Through the NGH curriculum, proven programs for helping individuals resolve problem areas in their lives, your clients benefit; (mind, body and spirit). Additionally, record keeping, effective marketing, advertising, and many other aspects of "how to" set up your successful practice are taught. 

his course includes a minimum of 100 hours of combined classroom instruction, homework assignments, practice sessions, and supervised clinical practice.  (75 hours of face-to-face classroom and 25 hours of on-line prerequisite reading assignment, reading assignments, written homework, practice of all the inductions and techniques learned in class, watch videos, listen to CD's, create a preliminary business plan, etc. during the break between Level I and Level II.  Students are required to submit one recorded homework practice inductions for critique. 

Students enjoy a dynamic class format consisting of lectures,  Q & A, demonstrations of  processes and techniques, hands-on supervised practice using the latest tools and techniques learned in class, in addition practical self-help techniques for stress, and tools for well-being to help yourself and others is covered in class. Through direct experience, students receive the most valuable aspects of each approach in motivational hypnosis. 

During class, students form pairs to utilize the tools and techniques demonstrated by your instructor. Refinement is accomplished through practice and during the instructor's rounds of critique, and later discussed as an entire class. This has proven to be very successful for accelerated learning, and the students enjoy the process. 

NGH Certified Hypnotists utilize their training in a career through self-employment, or they may wish to find employment with medical/health professionals, or alternative health care professionals. Upon successful completion of this course,  you will be awarded your NGH  Certification and membership status.

The NGH Certification training program provides 100 hours or more of combined classroom instruction, practice sessions, homework assignments, as well as a brief  on-line prerequisite reading assignment.  Continuing telephone and email supervision and quarterly practice sessions, as follows:

- practicing of inductions and techniques during class
- report on your experiences of practicing of inductions and techniques outside of class with volunteers
- study of the NGH Manuals, written reports on the material

- development of your business plan and marketing strategy
- 3 hour (quarterly) supervised practice sessions

Q:  What will my certification enable me to do?

After your Level II training is completed, you earn status as an NGH Certified Consulting Hypnotist. You are entitled to practice and earn your living, if you wish, in the field of hypnotism, in accordance with the laws in the state where you reside and practice. 

Q: What kind of organization is the National Guild of Hypnotists?

A:  The NGH is the largest and most prestigious worldwide hypnosis certifying organization. It has regular educational conferences in Marlborough, Massachusetts with well over 1500 participants. There are also NGH sponsored legal advocates who participate in legislatures all over the country representing the Guild’s members. The Guild is highly supportive, having a lending library of videos and audio tapes, referrals, legislative support, regular local meetings, and much more. 

Q: Why should I choose to train with you?

A:  The curriculum is based in time honored techniques in hypnotism. 

Class size is kept to a maximum of ten students, so you get a great deal of individual attention, and the training provides you with the opportunity to do work on your own self-improvement in the class, as well.

When you complete the program, you'll have the tools you need to work with most of the challenges presented to hypnotists. You will also  have the opportunity to gain more expertise and obtain your CEUs by attending advanced classes offered throughout the year.

Classes held at the Holbrook Wellness Center provide you with a model of a quiet, aesthetically pleasing and successful environment in which to learn and fashion your own office after, if you choose. 

Many students are amazed that they not only learn to help others, but their own lives improve profoundly in the process by practicing the techniques they learn in their own lives.  Small groups of 10 or less encourage a bonded community within your class, and this provides additional support for you.

After you complete the NGH training program, you qualify to receive continuing support and advice from their instructor via e-mail and telephone. Students are invited to special training opportunities that result in CEUs, and help promote their new practice and help advance their careers. 

Q: Can I earn a Ph.D. in Hypnosis or become a doctor of hypnotherapy?

A:  At present, there is no such thing as an accredited  Ph.D. in Hypnosis.

Q:  Do I need a license to practice hypnosis?

A:  Hypnotism is not a licensed profession in most states. You do not need a license to practice hypnosis in NY. 
 

Q:  What are the annual re-Certification requirements? 

A:  All CEU's for the NGH are calculated hour for hour (1 hour = 1 CEU)  You need 15 CEU's per year.

Q:  What kind of exam must I pass?

A:  There are two exams for NGH Certification. One at the conclusion of Level I, and a second, at the conclusion of Level II  The quality of class participation and thoroughness of homework assignments submitted will also be evaluated and critiqued. 

Q:  How long does it take to get certified?

A:  The total of 100 intensive hours is equivalent to two college semesters of instruction. It includes a minimum of 75 hours of face to face "classroom" instruction and supervised practice, off-site practice and homework assignments.

Your Right to Cancel Your Enrollment
Students have the right to cancel an agreement for a course of instruction. You may cancel without penalty or obligation at any time until midnight of the first day of class and obtain a full refund of the amount paid, less a $100 registration fee.

Cancellation will occur when a student gives written notice of cancellation. A signed and dated notice of cancellation may be given by mail or fax. We will also accept email notification of intent to cancel if sent to cdenicker@northshorehypnosis.com. The notice of cancellation, if sent by mail, is effective when postmarked if properly addressed to Carol Denicker, The Holbrook Wellness Center, 5000 Expressway Drive South, Holbrook, NY 11741. The written notice of cancellation shall state you wish to cancel the agreement. You shall receive your refund, as indicated below, any consideration paid by the student within 30 days after the cancellation notice is received. 

Refund Policy
A student may withdraw from a course after instruction has started and receive a tuition refund if you have completed 50% or less of the instruction.  To determine your refund amount, deduct the registration fee of $100 plus $250.00 for each partial or full day of attendance.  All student manuals and materials must be returned in good condition on the day you notify us of your intent to withdraw from training or this refund agreement is null and void. 

For the purpose of determining the amount you owe for time you attended, you shall be deemed to have withdrawn from the course when any of the following occurs: You notify Carol Denicker of your withdrawal on or of the actual date of withdrawal in writing, or; Carol Denicker terminates your enrollment in writing.

Correspondence courses are limited in their potential to train a person in the science and art of motivational hypnotism. Research carefully before signing up for correspondence courses or distance learning for training in hypnosis. Ask for references.
